J&M Plast creates biodegradable refuse bags

The firm J&M Plast, specialized in the design in production of plastic bags for bins develop a new bag baptized « Bioplast ». This will be a biodegradable bag constituted of nanocomposites coming from potato starch.

This ingenious concept comes from the parent company of J&M Plast, the parisian company Sphere, European n°1 in household and waste material packaging. Created in 1987 and taken over in 2003 by the Sphere company, J&M Plast employs 57 peoples et produce 12 000 refuse bags tons/year on its site of Beauzac (Haute-Loire, France).

The firm wants to turn all its production towards this technology in 2010, for which 400 kg of starch, i.e. 2 tons of potatoes are needed, to produce 1 ton of “Bioplast”.
